Cu Chi Tunnels
This is an area where Vietnamese people proudly held their ground during the Vietnam war (in Vietnam it is known as The American War). Over 200kms of underground tunnels were made, the trip will help you understand the struggle the Vietnamese would have gone through on the frontline. It took an enormous amount of ingenuity, courage and imagination to match the enemy and these tunnels were a big part of the Vietnam War and ended being a resounding victory for the Cu Chi people.

The tunnel system, fortifications and trenches were a part of a soldiers life, you will see how they lived, the kitchens, store rooms, hospital, living quarters. You can crawl around parts of the tunnel yourself and watch a video of the history of the Vietnam War in this area.

Our hotel sorted this tour by Asiana Link Travel, and it didn’t disappoint, collected from hotel on time and the whole day was brilliant, we were very lucky to have mr Thong (slim Jim) as our guide for the day, he was brilliant! Can highly recommend the tour as both destinations were so very interesting and the information provided by SJ was excellent, lunch was excellent too. we really had a great day and would do it again as the experience of getting in and out of Ho Chi Minh City was amazing too. Highly recommended!
Eye-opening experience! Photos don't do the tunnels justice.

Two of us went on this tour with guide Field, who was consistently polite, thoughtful, entertaining and very informative throughout the tour. On the way to the tunnels, he explained some of the history of the war and its effects on this region. The tunnels site has been turned into a kind of exhibition which really helped us gain a better understanding of wartime conditions, and how desperate of a struggle it must have been. Field did a great job of describing the various areas and giving us more historical context to appreciate what we saw.
Visited the temple after seeing the tunnels and reached there before noon, though unfortunately there was no noon service because it was the eve of Tet. Still, it was a very unique temple to visit, well worth checking out if you're in the region (especially if you're with an knowledgeable guide - like Field - who can tell you more about the Cao Dai religion).
Our guide, Viet, was really great...

Our guide, Viet, was really great. His English was good and his knowledge was vast. Not just of the areas we visited, but of South East Asia and its history. I would definitely recommend this trip and if you're lucky enough to get Viet as your guide, then you'll be assured of a great day.
