What To Expect

My Son Sanctuary
This tour is a must-see for those who are interested in architectural and ancient civilizations. My Son sanctuary was an important religious center to the Cham Royalty during the Champa civilization that used to exist in the central Vietnam, between the 4th and the 15th centuries.
We travel about 50km from Hoi An to My Son sanctuary. This complex comprises many Champa temples and towers, located in a roughly two square kilometer valley. It was the site of religious ceremony of kings of the Champa civilization and was also a burial place of Champa royals and national heroes. The My Son temple complex is one of the foremost temple complexes of Hinduism in South East Asia and is the foremost heritage site of this type in Vietnam. Though the complex has been destroyed over time, war, natural disaster, we still see many majestic ancient ruins of temples in the area.

Wonderful Thao To My Son Sanctuary Private Tour and Da Nang Da Nang Tour
motofa, 26-08-2022
Thao To My Son Sanctuary Private Tour was quite fun & educational by knowledgable guide Thao. My wife & I learnt about the ancient Champ civilisation, culture, ancestral beliefs and the progression into Hinduism thru subsequent kingdoms & their demise. Interesting indeed! We felt comfortable with Thao & enjoyed his local guide knowledge and friendliness that we engaged him also for private Da Nang tour visiting Bana Hills and Marble Mountain. His wife Hwa was the superb driver in their private car for the Da Nang tour finishing with fantastic fresh live seafood dinner with four of us at Be Man Seafood Restaurant along Da Nang beach recommended by Thao. Thank you Thao and Hwa. We are lucky to have met you both. Hope we would meet again someday someplace.

What an amazing tour! We loved everything about the day and our guide Thạo Tô was just perfect. Very knowledgeable, enjoyable and welcoming. After our tour of My Son, we had a delicious lunch prepared by his family on their property. It was one of our favorite meals! What a great day - highly recommend this tour and booking with Thạo Tô.

Could not recommend this tour enough! Thank you to our wonderful guide Thao, he was so friendly and knowledgeable. The food we had at the end of the trip was the best we’ve had in Vietnam! The whole experience was amazing!

Firstly I want to thank Duyen and Hoa for their kindness during my time of need (gastro). Duyen even dropped by her place on the way to My Son so I could get to a WC as soon as possible!
Things got better after that for me and I am very glad I went. Duyen and Hoa are locals and are passionate about the history and culture of the Champa people. Very informative. Hoa prepared local food for lunch, which was also very interesting, tasty and relaxing. Highly recommended.
Great, personalised tour to My Son

I had a private morning tour with Thao as a guide. He was kind, good humoured and professional throughout the tour- picking up an iced coffee for me on the way, walking to get me some shoes from the sanctuary store when one of my sandals broke(!) and all the while providing many interesting insights into the site's history.

It's an impressive site with much detail, and I know that without a guide, I wouldn't have been able to appreciate it fully. What was particularly interesting for me was the way the site represents different layers of history- some of the structures have bullet holes from when the Viet Cong used it as a base, and there are bomb craters scattered across the site.

Because Thao is from the area, he was also able to bring the place to life, hearing his personal anecdotes about his family's relationship to the site and the wider local history.

I also really enjoyed the breakfast/lunch after walking around- delicious vegetarian (at my request) noodles followed up with some fruit from the family garden. I was always consulted on the food options, so I'm sure Thao would accommodate any preferences!
